Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress, best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out of high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. The actress landed her first part in the film, Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. Her portrayal of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue a more significant role in movies, and had a role alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. The actress has also appeared on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 as well as in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the character of Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She plays Faith, who is the muse and fan of the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan She is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager her career began on small roles with her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. She then appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for both her performances as the main character actress in Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as an unmarried mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Some of her other characters include as a secret agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a singer in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the main character. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a writer and director in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
